Apocalyptic Viewing

The day the Earth shook
I was watching from space,
with a horrified look
as I turned to embrace,
the last person alive
that I knew I could trust,
whilst we spacemen survive
all our friends became dust.
We watched Ice Age mark two
as the ash cloud expanded,
over all that we knew
we were stuck out here, stranded.
As the power ran low
we logged every event
with the world down below,
we began our descent…

A poem I wrote for a prompt about watching the world end from the space station
